Okanagan Centre Leonids 2001 Images

All Images Are Copyrighted By The Photographers

Many members of RASC OK Centre pointed their camera's skywards in the early morning hours of November 18th, 2001 trying to capture some of hundred's of Leonids on film. Here are some examples (click on the picture "name" to see the image).

Jim Failes

Our proficient astrophotographer Jim Failes submitted two sets of images taken from the parking lot at Big White Ski Resort. The first five were shot with Konica Centuria 800 film:

This second set of pictures were shot on Kodak Elitechrome 400 with a 50mm lens set at f2: This group shot was taken by Jim by "painting" us with a white light while his camera shutter was left open.

Stewart Hill

Using Kodak Max 400 film with a 28mm lens set at f2.8 for 5 minutes, this picture shows two of the many Leonids that were visible low on the horizon.

Ron Scherer

This slide image shows a meteor passing through Ursa Major (second image is the same meteor close-up).
