Observing With RASC OK Centre Members

Dark Sites and the Okanagan Observatory

A dark sky greatly enhances every aspect of observing allowing for easier object location and greater appreciation of detail. RASC Okanagan Centre members scan the night sky from back yards, local sports fields, parks, darkened ski hills, wilderness-logging roads and from the Okanagan Observatory site, and you are welcome to join in the fun.

Observing Challenges

Jim Kanester regularly prepares Observing Challenges for the Vernon meeting group, which are also shared with members throughout the Okanagan Centre.  The Challenges offer an opportunity to visually explore different areas of the sky, learn about the exciting features you are observing, and add to your knowledge and observing skills. Jim includes introductory information, charts, pictures and several levels of challenge. Check out the current challenges using this link:
Observing Challenges.
